AKB48 to be Special Guest at the Anime EXPO 2010

It has been learned that popular Idol Group AKB48 will be taking part in the Anime Expo in the USA, which will be held in July and the girls will be performing at the Nokia Theater.
Thereafter, a meet & greet, as well as a signing session are planned for the event. The performance is expected to create a bridge between western and Japanese culture and making it part of the global culture on top.

In 2009, AKB48 had also been taking part in the Japan EXPO in Paris, presenting one of the styles of Japanese pop culture and the recent appeal of it. Within Japan, the group has just released their best-of album "Kami Kyokutachi" on April 7th, which reached the top position of the charts for the 19th of April and marks this year's biggest sales for Japanese female artists, with a record sale of 295,000 copies. Producer Akimoto Yasushi said accordingly: "It's been 5 years since their debut and they have come a long way. I am very happy about the fact that the album, which wraps up the work of AKB48 like this, is supported like it is now."

The Anime EXPO 2010 will be held from July 1st to 4th at the Lost Angeles Convention Center.
